The answer is YES, and NO.
We have same deposit insurance amount as in EU, that is 100.000 EUR as Kaunas wrote. BUT. In most EU countries this insurance is covered by Guarantee Fund, in other words declared limits are 100% covered. Lithuania is different. State law is such that deposits are covered by Insurance Fund. That is, in case of financial crisis, only ~10% are really covered. This Insurance Fund is a State company and according to State law, State has no financial liability for State Company losses. Stats: In the end of 2007 this Insurance Fund capitalisation was Lt 868M, at the same time deposits amounted in ~ Lt 15.000M. _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _

Yes, diverse tactics would work. Keep in mind, that in case you have a loan from the very same bank, you get:

NASA : [Your obligations to the bank] - [Your deposit amount]. That does not work any more. |

How is that? I'm pretty sure it is still valid.

I talked with SEB, and they told me, that this don't work any more. So if you have deposit and obligations to bank, you will get back your money from deposit insurer ( 90% if it's more than 10k EUR) and there can be a case that before this you will have to repay/re-credit your obligations to bank (that up on bancrpcy administrator). So we can't put = sign here.

Well, it seems SEB is confusing you.
